In India, medical studies that follow the doctors in ayurveda are in universities, and in the eyes of the authorities as valid as Western medicine. So there are strict controls and charlatanism is excluded.

Medical tourism or paramedics has increased awareness of ayurveda medicine in the world, resulting in the creation of dual-purpose centers and medical and tourism. This does not diminish the quality of people who organize these cures, although some treatments of long duration must be done in real hospitals.
The centers which are listed on this site meet the required criteria in order that you have a convincing experience of the benefits of ayurveda. Some are - in India - labeled by the government: Green Leaf (the premium) and Olive Leaf. The others are not necessarily to be discarded, but need more attention while chosing them, depending on the severity of one's symptoms.

A final comment: some people who do not find in the occidental medicine solution to their health problems will turn to alternative medicine (homeopathy, acupuncture, Bach flowers, herbal medicine, etc ...) in which we can classify Ayurveda.
